Notes on Buckin' Hell 2025

What worked:
- 2 gels + 2 skratch + 1 shot blok to start. Same waiting at 25K drop bag (Homestead outbound).
- the watermelon shot bloks worked well.
- two 500ml bottles, but filled only one for first half; filled second bottle half full at 25K; filled both bottles full at Old Buck.
- poles in drop bag; didn't miss them on the descent, but really glad to have them for the climbs.
- pair of light gloves with hot shots, to start.

To consider:
- temp 21 degrees C for the high; probably could have started without the long-sleeved T; dropped it at first aid station.
- be sure to add skratch to one of the bottles at Old Buck.
- maybe gaters.
- more downhill training.

Explosive bolts. One day you will have to summon up the courage to use them.

Two people have been living in you all your life. One is the ego, garrulous, demanding, hysterical, calculating; the other is the hidden spiritual being, whose still voice of wisdom you have only rarely heard or attended to. ~ Sogyal Rinpoche
