Some of the critters I've run into on the trails include skunk, vole, slug, bat, raccoon, porcupine, bear, fox, bobcat, coyote, deer, elk, scorpion, cougar and rattle snake. The cougar and rattle snake in particular freaked me out ... neither backed down and I gave them a wide berth. I've also run into an owl before, but in my last two night runs at Fraserview I was attacked by one. A quick thunk in the back of the head. Didn't see or hear it coming. I could feel its talons even through my cap. Just minor scratches. BC Wildlife Refuge suggests avoiding the area for now. Will do :)
