I opened the door and stepped outside. There was a bit of a drop that I wasn't expecting ... just a few inches. But enough to cause me to stumble and almost fall. I knew right off that something was wrong. The sky was a pale yellow. Pale yellow. From edge to edge to edge. In later days I would google 'shades of yellow' to attach a word to it: Banana.
And there was a moon. Not 'the' moon. A different one. At about 45
degrees above the horizon. About three times the size of 'the' moon. And
it had a ring around it. A Saturn-like ring.
I was not on Earth. A wave of confusion washed over me. My knees buckled. I crumpled to the ground.
